As introduced, budget bill: - Appropriates $1.16 million for the statewide broadband office (pg. 39) - Mandates that if the health care authority estimates that expenditures for the medical assistance program will exceed the appropriations, the health care authority shall take steps including but not limited to reduction of rates or elimination of optional services to reduce expenditures so that total program costs do not exceed the annual appropriation authority (page 102). - Appropriates funds for grant writers to support the ongoing need for tribal and overburdened communities to access state and federal funding opportunities that advance environmental justice through the thriving communities technical assistance program (p. 291). - Appropriates funds to create a centralized statewide organized retail crime task force (p.448). - Creates a contract with a statewide organization with a mission of developing new ways to combat organized retail crime by implementing a pilot program to respond to organized retail crime (p. 497). - Appropriates funds to the office of the superintendent of public instruction to provide age-appropriate and inclusive sexual health education (pg. 230). - Appropriates funds for the implementation of social-emotional learning in schools (pg. 230). - Requires development of definition and framework for African American studies to guide instruction in grades 7-12 and aligning African American studies across all content areas (pg. 232). - Requires identification of professional development opportunities for teachers to build high-quality learning environments centered in belonging and racial equity. - Appropriates funds to provide grants to improve preservice teacher training and to fund alternate routes to certification programs (pg. 232). - Appropriates funds to school districts to provide free breakfast and lunch to students (pg. 252). - Appropriates $300,000 for lease space for AI startups.
