As introduced: - Prohibits the distribution, with actual malice, of materially deceptive audio or visual media and other false election-related communications within 90 days of an election. - Defines materially deceptive media to include fabricated or manipulated content, such as deepfakes, intended to injure a candidate's reputation or disrupt an election. - Authorizes a candidate harmed by such communications, or the attorney general, to seek an injunction to stop its distribution and to bring a civil action for damages. - Exempts news broadcasts that acknowledge questions about the media's authenticity, as well as communications that constitute satire or parody.
