As enacted: - Requires political communications that use an audio or video deepfake impersonating a candidate to include a disclosure stating that the content is fake. - Allows a civil cause of action for a candidate who is the subject of a deepfake political communication, allowing the candidate to seek damages and equitable relief. - Limits the disclosure requirement for communications targeting non-incumbent candidates to the 120-day period before an election. - Exempts internet service providers, cloud providers, search engines, and also paid broadcasters from liability.
