As enacted: - Establishes the Mississippi Math Act and the Moving Mathematics in Mississippi (M3) program, expanding statewide coaching, K–5 screening, and a Grade 5 algebra-readiness benchmark to guide interventions and placement. - Requires universal math screening (K–5) and individualized math plans with tiered interventions for struggling students. - Requires science-of-reading-based literacy reforms for grades 4–8, including required interventions, educator training, and a ban on three-cueing instructional methods. - Requires individual reading plans, parent notification, and ongoing intervention for students with reading deficiencies through middle school. - Adds financial literacy requirements in middle school and as a high school graduation requirement, alongside broader curriculum updates. - Requires public high school students, beginning with the ninth-grade class of 2029-2030, to earn one credit in either a computer science course or a career and technical education (CTE) course with embedded computer science before graduation. - Allows the required computer science credit to satisfy one existing graduation requirement for either an advanced mathematics credit or an advanced science credit. - Mandates that qualifying courses include instruction on the fundamental concepts of emerging computer science technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI).
