As enacted (see SB 2253): - Establishes a procedure for law enforcement to issue a traffic citation by mail to the registered owner of an automated driving system (ADS) -operated vehicle determined to have committed a traffic offense. - Authorizes state or local law enforcement to establish a policy regarding methods in which to enforce traffic offenses committed by an ADS. - Specifies the content, mailing, and payment requirements for these citations, including timelines and conditions for assessing additional fees. - NOTE: Amendment (3/23) removes definition of "autonomous vehicle" and authorizes state or local law enforcement to establish policies for enforcing traffic offenses against automated driving systems.
