As enrolled: - Creates the Children’s Online Social Media Safety Act, requires beginning in 2028, a covered manufacturer, defined as an Internet-enabled device, an operating system provider, or an application store, that offers an account setup feature to provide an accessible interface that requires an account holder to indicate the birth date, age, or both. Requires the covered manufacturer to share the user's age bracket data with applications. - Requires a covered operator, defined as a covered platform or addictive social media platform, to request an age bracket signal from the covered manufacturer when the user downloads or launches a covered platform. - For a covered minor, requires a covered operator to apply default settings that include restrictions on adult interactions, direct messaging, geolocation sharing, gifted-currency transactions, and search-engine indexing. - Prohibits platforms from sending notifications to minors between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. without parental consent, except for direct-message notifications. - Prohibits addictive social media feeds for minors unless the platform knows the user is an adult or has obtained verifiable parental consent, and bans autoplay of media for minors by default. - Grants enforcement with the attorney general.
