As introduced: - Prohibits artificial intelligence from substituting for core nursing services and requires registered professional nurses to use AI only as a clinical decision support tool for which they remain accountable. - Requires a registered professional nurse to obtain specific patient consent before using AI to analyze a clinical encounter and provide written notice to patients about the use of AI. - Requires health care entities that deploy AI in direct patient care to maintain validation and bias records, provide training to nurses, and prohibits making staffing, triage, admission, discharge, or transfer decisions that rely solely on AI. - Makes a nurse's violation of these provisions grounds for professional discipline and authorizes the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to investigate and impose civil penalties on health care entities for violations.
