As introduced: - Requires providers of generative AI systems to embed digital provenance data in synthetic content and to provide a free tool for its detection. - Requires manufacturers of capture devices, such as cameras and phones, to embed digital provenance data by default, with a user opt-out. - Establishes a private right of action for individuals depicted in harmful, deceptive synthetic content and requires large online platforms to implement a process for its removal. - Increases the prison sentence for a noncapital felony by one year if a generative AI system was used to assist in the commission of the crime.
