As introduced: - Prohibits the provision of therapy or psychotherapy services, including through artificial intelligence, unless conducted by a licensed professional. - Requires a licensed professional to obtain a patient's written, informed consent before using artificial intelligence for supplementary support, such as transcribing sessions. - Prohibits a licensed professional from using artificial intelligence to make independent therapeutic decisions, directly interact with clients through therapeutic communication, or generate treatment plans. - Exempts religious counseling, peer support, and public self-help materials from the requirements of the act.
