As introduced: - Prohibits the provision of therapy or psychotherapy services, including through the use of internet-based artificial intelligence, unless conducted by a licensed professional. - Restricts a licensed professional from using artificial intelligence to make independent therapeutic decisions, directly communicate with clients, generate treatment plans, or detect emotions. - Requires a licensed professional to obtain a patient's written, informed consent before using artificial intelligence for supplementary support in therapy where sessions are recorded or transcribed. - Exempts religious counseling, peer support, and self-help materials that do not purport to offer therapy from these provisions.
