As introduced: - Requires large digital platforms to publicly disclose the primary factors used in their algorithmic ranking systems, including the use of engagement metrics, paid promotion, and behavioral profiling. - Requires large digital platforms to implement policies to detect synthetic media and to disclose when content has been generated or materially altered by artificial intelligence. - Prohibits large digital platforms from misrepresenting the operation of their algorithmic systems, falsely claiming a content feed is neutral or organic without disclosure, and knowingly permitting coordinated inauthentic behavior by foreign-controlled entities. - Authorizes the attorney general to enforce these provisions and allows residents harmed by a violation to bring a civil action for injunctive relief.
