Requires obtaining verifiable parental consent to create an account for a child under the age of 16. - Prohibits displaying addictive features, such as infinite scrolling and auto-play videos, or profile-based paid advertising to users identified as children. - Mandates that child accounts default to the most private settings and provides parents with tools to monitor usage and set time limits. - Creates a private right of action for a child or parent to sue for violations of the act. - Renders contracts with a child on a covered social media platform invalid and unenforceable in the absence of parental consent. - The 3/25/2026 amendment applies age restrictions on minors under the age of 16, rather than 17. Sets an effective date of January 1, 2027.
